It's Official

Now that Ella has been to her five-year check-up at the doctor, she's officially a healthy, happy FIVE year old! :-) I started telling her yesterday morning we were going to the doctor today. I told her we were just going for a check-up because she turned five and we go once a year around our birthday. She actually got all excited! Okay, who gets excited to go to the doctor? Well, Ella that's who!

Last night at bedtime I reminded her again that our appt. was pretty early so she would have to eat breakfast right away when she woke up and then brush her teeth good and get dressed. And she did all of that. While she was in the bathroom brushing her teeth, she said, "I'm excited for the doctor," and had this big goofy grin on her face. I didn't mention the word s-h-o-t because I didn't want her to lose her excitement about the experience.

We headed out the door and she had a great appt. She is currently 42 3/4 inches tall and in the 75th percentile and is 41lbs for weight (50th percentile). She was in the 75th percentile for both height and weight last year. So I think her healthy eating habits and all her running around contribute to the difference this year. Or maybe she just grew taller too. :-) She's right on track developmentally and the doctor noted her speech improvement saying she was pretty much understandabl now. He asked her to talk about some words (ie: define them for him). He gave her the word "lake" and asked her to tell him about what it was. He said her definitions for all the words were quite good and maybe better than a lot of the kids he sees. Especially for "ceiling". Ella said, "It's on top, it covers the room." He said most kids just look up when he asks them about that.

And no shots this appointment! She just needs them before kindergarten and since we're waiting one more year for that, he seemed to think we should just defer them until then. I think there are about FIVE of them so I was happy to defer that experience.

So there you have it folks! Coming up next month: Lily Goes to the Doctor and Lily Has a Birthday Party. :-)

Glad everything went well at the dr! These girls are growing too fast! Have a good weekend with the girls, it will be interesting at our house for sure. :) I'm trying to think of stuff to keep us busy while also getting some other essential stuff done, since this is one of the few weekends I'm home.
Take care...talk to you soon!

Oh, how cute! I love that she was excited. At least you get this over with for both girls in a short period of time.
