Summer Routine

Sorry for my inconsistent posting. Just haven't been in the mood lately I guess. :-)

We're into our crazy summer schedule now. After July 10th, I think we'll pretty much be home for the rest of the summer (busy, but home). We've traveled to Brainerd, Minocqua, and Illinois since Memorial Day Weekend, hosted my mom and Dave for a week and a half (separate post for that one), and now we'll be off to spend the Fourth in Racine and go to Chicago for a conference that Andrew is attending. Whew! All that in just about 6 weeks!

And to top all that off, the girls have had various activities of their own. Well, mostly Ella really. Two Monday afternoons in June, Ella participated in a Parks and Rec Island Princess themed art class. She had a blast along with nine other little girls making masquerade masks, castles, jungle animals and more!

On Tuesday afternoons, she attends a cheerleading camp. Now, many of you who know me quite well know that I was so NOT a cheerleader. Not that there is anything wrong with cheerleading. I was just so not coordinated enough to clap one thing, stamp my feet in another rhythm, and yell out catchy phrases besides. However, one of Ella's gym teachers was a cheerleader and she is hosting a cheer camp for little girls this summer and got Ella all excited about it. So here we are.

Two little girls showed up to the first day of camp in a cute little authentic looking cheerleading outfit, which just happened to match the pom poms included in the camp fee. Trice, the teacher, also just happened to tell all the moms about this cute little outfit and where to buy it. So of course I didn't want Ella to be the ONLY one not to show up in her cheerleading uniform. And I must admit, she does look absolutely adorable in it!

On top of her cheer camp, Ella is also going to a couple soccer clinics throughout the summer, hosted by yet another gym teacher, Jessi. I, personally, think Ella has a bit more natural talent in soccer than cheerleading. But we'll see how things go. She has so much fun running around and kicking the ball. And she's pretty darn good at it too! (Erin Ryan, you would be proud!!) :-)

Lastly, (as if we need more activities right?!) BOTH Ella and Lily are attending a day camp once a week from 9:30-12pm so I can have a little bit of time to myself which I would love to spend reading or knitting or doing some other selfish activity, but inevitably spend it cleaning the house, grocery shopping or running errands. Oh well, doing anything by myself these days is a treat and its really amazing how quickly and efficiently things can get done without two of the world's best "helpers" around.

We also seem to throw in a playdate with a friend or two every now and then, which is always a fun time. We went to Kidstock (various children's music performers) with Ella's friend from preschool, Arpita and her mom and brother. And we had Arpita over to play at our house another week. We played at Riley Lake with the Andersons. Kelly and I also took the older girls to see Kung Fu Panda last week (it was more serious, dark and a lot more mean fighting than we thought it might be for an animated Jack Black movie. Not a super great choice for the under 7 crowd in my opinion. But Ella said she really liked it).

Okay, maybe I've realized by writing this, my lack of posting really has nothing to do with apathy, but sheer exhaustion. :-)
