Kellan--9 months

Email update sent on October 22:
Kellan is nine months old already!!! He just seems older this month. I think he's starting to get into things a little more. Starting to get more curious. He LOVES being outside, he loves being in the stroller. He had a fabulous time at Disney World just looking at everything. He was a champ there! Totally off his schedule for eating and sleeping, but didn't hardly complain about it at all.

He has two bottom teeth now. The second one just popped through in the last couple days. He still eats like crazy. He's an awesome sleeper at night. He's already down to about one good long nap per day now. But I'm okay with that. It was always kind of hard with our crazy schedule around here to fit two naps in a day anyway.

He's eating more table food (still no nuts, eggs, or honey). He seems to like much of what you give him and tolerates the rest. Peas and green beans are probably the worst things to feed him. He's not real happy about those. But he does tolerate zucchini pretty well for a green veggie. And last night I just put a few bits of lettuce and red pepper on his tray. He tried them and made faces at the taste, but ate several bites of each anyway.

He just started to "talk" a tiny bit in the last week or so. He makes a sound that sounds like he's trying to say "ella" and he's said a "dada" sound a couple times. But nothing I would definitively say are his first words.

Hmm....other than that, not much to report. We go to his 9-month checkup on Monday. But I already know he's right around 20lbs. We'll be switching him out of the infant seat into the regular car seat as soon as I can get Andrew to do the switcheroo.

See attached photos....
Kellan1 is his first time sitting in a restaurant high chair like a big boy
Kellan2--the girls now have the chore of putting all the dishes away from the dishwasher. Kellan LOVES to "help". He is very intrigued by the dishwasher and I think he would like to climb right in if we would let him. ;-)
Kellan3--just ready for a walk..cute photo
Kellan4&5--his first time sitting in a leaf pile playing with the leaves
Kellan 6--if you look really closely in his mouth, you can see his little bottom tooth in there.
Kellan7--Just thought it was cute that he was standing at the door with a "whatcha doin'?" expression on his face as he watched me take a photo of Lily outside.
Kellan8--a little sneak peek of a 9-month photo I took at the Arboretum...did a full family session with us. But I still need to work on all the photos.
Kellan 9--one of my favorite photos from all the ones I took at Disney. I love how it looks like he's almost wearing the big hat at Hollywood Studios.

Kellan--8 Months

From email update on September 22nd:
Happy Fall! Kellan is 8 months old today! He is growing up way too fast. This month's pictures shows you all the things he's doing. They are chronological. So you can see in the first photo he pulled up only on his knees. The second one is the first time he pulled himself all the way to standing. And it goes from there. The pictures with the hat were taken at the Target Book Festival. I LOVE the one of him and Andrew. SO cute! He also LOVES those two dollhouse cars. He knows right where the music buttons are and pushes the button constantly. I tried to give him a truck that makes music too and showed him where the button was. Just for some variety of obnoxious music. But he wasn't interested. :-) Oh, and he loves looking out the front window. I think when he gets a little taller and can really see out there, that might be one of his favorite places in the house. He LOVES watching all the cars and trucks go by. He's such a boy. :-)

He is sleeping through the night solidly now. Doesn't even get up at 4:45am for his nuk anymore. It's great! His naps are hit and miss. He usually gets one really good nap in a day (usually in the morning) and a second nap is slightly sketchy. Usually only takes a cat nap. But then he goes to bed around 7:30pm and sleeps to 7:00am so I'm not complaining too much.

He still doesn't have teeth, but we're slowly giving him big people food, little bites of fresh banana, cheesy potatoes, chicken, sweet potatoes. Andrew gave him some rib meat to try last night.

He's so good with the girls. They carry him around, jiggle him, dance with him, and he just takes it all without complaining!

Kellan--7 Months

Email update on August 24:
Kellan was seven months old on Sunday!! Hard to believe!

He's sitting up, crawling, and pulling himself up already! I'm pretty sure this kid is going to be walking by 9 months. He LOVES to stand and he already has the walking motion down with his feet if you're holding him up.

Hmm....still no teeth, but I caught him gnawing on the coffee table yesterday so something tells me they are on their way.

In the attached photos:
--the first two...The girls thought it would be fun to give Kellan a ride. I'm not so sure what he thought of it. The second photo he's looking at me like, "Help me, Mom".
--the third and fourth...Kellan LOVES this number puzzle. He knocks them all off and chews on them. When you try to put it back together for him, he can't get back to it fast enough to knock them all off again.
--last three were in Iowa...playing in the pack n play...at the Farmer's Market in Marion, posing on a train there...trying out some of my new photo props!

Kellan--6 months

Update emailed on July 22nd:
We had Kellan's 6-month checkup yesterday afternoon. The doctor was pleased with his progress and impressed he was already getting up on all fours ready to crawl. He weighed 18 lbs, 1oz (50th %). Measured 27 1/2 inches (90th %). His head is now in the 50th %. So even though he's solid, he's still very average and tall. She told me boys will tend to be heavier than girls.

The girls were:
Lily:17lbs, 12 oz. and 29 1/2 inches long!
Ella was 17lbs, 6oz, and 27 3/4 inches

So Kellan is our shortest and heaviest at 6 months. No wonder he seems like such a chunk to me! ;-)

Nothing else too significant. He can start eating shredded cheese and yogurt now. The doctor also said we could give him pureed meat (sound so gross to me) or little tiny shredded bits. And also those puffs that dissolve in their mouth. Makes me a little nervous without teeth. She felt in his mouth and said the teeth could be coming soon (hopefully) because his gums are uneven. But nothing's cutting through yet.

He got the oral rotovirus vaccine again as well as two others, and he actually started crying before she even poked him (when I was holding his arms). So I think he's starting to pick up on the sequence of events for the shots. We don't go back again for three months. His 9-month check up will be Oct. 25th.

And photos:

Just another quick note. We traveled to Ohio in July and that was Kellan's first airplane trip. He was a great little traveler!

Kellan updates....5 months...

So as far as blog posts go....Kellan is only 4 months old on here! ugh. I send out a monthly email to the grandparents with photo attachments so I'm just going to use those and quick give you a monthly update of our littlest one.

Here goes the first one, sent to the Grandparents on June 24th:
Kellan turned five months old on Tuesday so I'm a little late in getting this out. After sleeping through the night for a month, he thought it would be fun to start waking up again (I think it started with a growth spurt and turned into a habit). But thanks to a new noise machine (thanks Dad and Clare!) he's turned back around and has been sleeping through the night again the last 7 days or so. I hope this is a trend that continues!

He is sort of holding his bottle. He can do it, but he doesn't always stay focused on it. We started solid foods almost three weeks ago. He's mostly had green veggies (peas, green beans, edamame, avocado) and butternut squash. We introduced apples yesterday. He likes oatmeal cereal better than the rice cereal and clearly likes the squash, avocado and apples better than the rest (but who wouldn't)! I'm making his baby food here at home and we have pears, peaches, and bananas waiting for him to try now besides all the veggies.

He's rolling back to front and front to back now and has just in the last day or so figured out how to keep rolling. He just gets stuck in places in the family room and hasn't figured out how to roll back the other direction to get him out of being stuck.

He's blowing raspberries and babbling. I think that's it!
The above photo is me trying to take a photo of his first solids, one handed with the camera.
Then Lily said she would take a photo for me. So here it is! So cute!

Unplugged

I was almost completely unplugged (no computer, no cell phone, no email, no television, no NOTHING) for almost six days while we took our first family vacation to DISNEY WORLD!! We went last week!

I had a deal with Shutterfly for photo books so I quick made these for the girls yesterday before the coupon I had expired. We're giving these to the girls for Christmas. It's their own book of photos from our trip starring themselves! And shutterfly has a feature where I can share them with you online! So here they are, but "Shhh....." Don't say anything to the girls, remember it's one of their Christmas gifts!

I actually have a ton more photos to share too, but these will get you started! :-)

Sorry for the lack of posts.....

Hi! I'm still alive....in case you were wondering. I can't believe two months has nearly gone by and i haven't posted anything! Worse yet, I was already behind in posting, leaving off at the beginning of July. Now I'm really behind. Well, I think we might have to skip ahead....

The reason for my lack of posting since the end of August is that I've been INCREDIBLY BUSY with my photo business. It's really taken off this fall. I've had several sessions EVERY SINGLE WEEK! Which, in theory is GREAT! In reality, it leaves no time to do anything else on the computer except check email and edit photos. I have been updating the photo blog quite frequently so if you want to see what has been keeping me busy take a look over there: Lily Bella Photography.

And in glancing at my calendar life doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Though I love keeping track of what we're doing on here. I use it to sort of journal our lives. I'm not sure I'll get back to any sort of regular posting until after the first of the year. UGH. But I'll try to throw something up here every now and then.

Thanks for checking in!!

This is what happens when the kids get ahold of the camera....

The girls like to experiment with our point and shoot camera every now and then. This is what ends up on the camera when that happens:

I think it's fun to see what they want to take photos of and some of them crack me up! :-)

June Randomness

Ella and Lily wanted to make a lemonade stand, so Andrew "built" them one! He dragged the log cabin to the front yard and got it all set up with signs, cups, a pitcher of lemonade and even some extra change for people.

Lily lasted about 10 minutes waiting for people to come and Ella made it about an hour. They didn't get that it might take a while for people to come by. And it was Sunday morning so there weren't too many people out and about. I think the girls had a total of maybe 3 sales. But they had fun!

Just a cute Lily and Kellan moment. :-)

Summer Reading!

We've made several trips to the Ridgedale Library this summer. We've never been there before and we LOVE this library. It is much more kid-friendly than our Eden Prairie library. There are letters of the alphabet leading you into the library. You can find all the Spongebobs in the children's section and then get a sticker. They had free pencils and bookmarks. Not to mention a kitchen play area and a dramatic play area that changes monthly! The last time we went they had a castle built out of cardboard, fun dress up clothes, chalices, crowns and more! If you live in the area, I HIGHLY recommend going there.
