Our Father's Day activities started a week early on June 8th when we gave Tom his father's day gifts in Minocqua. It was a lot of fun to hang out with him fishing and whatnot. Andrew was very happy to get to spend time with him since we weren't going to see them for actual Father's Day.
On the Saturday of Father's Day weekend, we ate breakfast at one of our favorite places, the Original Pancake House, and then took Ella to a soccer clinic in the morning and Lily had a great time playing at the park with Daddy. Andrew left from there to play in a Golf Galaxy Tour event in Ramsey, MN. He had a lot of fun and won a little bit of Golf Galaxy cash.
While Andrew was playing golf, the girls and I took my dad and Clare to the Arboretum for lunch and an afternoon of fun. We walked around, visiting the Japanese garden (and the koi fish) and the Peony gardens for the first time this year. Everything was in full bloom and gorgeous!
Sunday morning, we woke up and Andrew opened his gifts. He received cookware (exciting, I know, but that's what he wanted!), the National Treasure 2 DVD, and 2 smaller Indiana Jones Legos sets. He has been looking at those forever at Target and would never buy them for himself. I know he really wanted them. He was pretty excited when he opened them up. He and Ella spent an hour playing with them.
Andrew relaxed for much of the afternoon and then we went out with our friends Kelly and Robb, leaving the kids with my mom, Dave, and my dad, who stopped over. The four of us made our way to the Walker Art Museum where they had Walker on the Green set up, a collection of artist created mini-golf holes that you could actually play. We enjoyed playing and investigating the various holes and then we headed to Uptown for a nice dinner at Figlio's.
We sent Papi Dave his Father's Day gift before they came up to visit us, and the girls have enjoyed playing with him the entire past week.
Andrew also spent the entire weekend entranced by the Men's Golf U.S. Open. He was like a kid in a candy store watching Tiger's round on Saturday and even watched the last 6 holes twice, he was so blown away by his performance. The same for Sunday night and then Monday afternoon for the play-off round.
All in all, a pretty good Father's day for Andrew. The girls and I are so appreciative of everything he does for us, working so hard all the time, making it down for dinner almost every night, playing with the kids, doing all the yardwork. He never gets time to relax and is always putting us before himself. THANK YOU! And also a big thank you to all our dads for everything you do to help us out throughout the year. We appreciate it!! :-)
Edited to add: Sorry the pictures have a weird white space around them. Shutterfly has been updating their site and things have been a little wacky lately.
