Battling the Bugs

Not much new around here to report. There has been a major bug floating around Eden Prairie the last couple weeks and unfortunately it has descended upon our house. Ella was sick last week starting on Thursday and just now getting better. Lily has been sick the last couple days. Andrew has a cold. And I'm still doing battle and fighting it off so far.

Ella's classmate who lives a block away was sick a little before her and the Andersons are fighting the same bug. Ella's speech teacher and OT were out last week and this week. IT'S INVADING US!!! (Picture classic horror movie here with people stampeding and screaming.) :-)

So here's to hoping next week is a healthy one!

We did have Ella's spring conference at school this morning. She continues to do very well. She has improved upon all the areas from the fall conference. The teacher moved her to a place where she can focus easier during circle time (ie: closer to the teacher) and so she's been paying attention better. She tends to float among all the different groups of kids and be friends with them all. That is somewhat familiar to me. I used to have one or two good friends in school, but would be friends with people from different "groups".

This was the more "academic" conference to see what information she knows well and what she might need to work on still. She did great with her colors only getting confused with gray. She calls it silver. Well, silver is sparkly so of course she would pick something more shiny than boring old gray. :-) She knows her shapes (except rectangle and oval are difficult for her) and can hold the pencil well and cut paper well. Needs to learn the alphabet and numbers a little more. But this is all normal and she has another year before kindergarten to work on it. The teacher also stressed that she didn't think we should really "work" with her at home on these things, just point them out as we're doing other things, like playing games or whatever.

All for now. Hope you all are staying healthy!
